From an initial period of high achievement as an academic food scientist, Terry Lee has developed outstanding individual leadership in the management and development of research in Australian viticulture and oenology. He has an outstanding record of high quality publications in these areas, and has taken the additional step of making such information available to, and amenable to adoption by, the Australian grape and wine industry. This has been achieved by alterations to the management of AWRI, the appointment of appropriate personnel, and by information and extension activities now heavily patronised by an industry producing high quality products of increased export value.
